The search is on for Singapore’s next social media star

Singapore, 14 October 2011 – Today, SingTel kicked off its first Social Media Casting Call – an initiative aimed at searching for a female host for the new weekly YouTube programme that will be introduced at the end of this year.

Open to Singaporeans and Permanent Residents, the casting call will be run on SingTel’s Facebook page from October 15 to November 8 2011. The winner will walk away with a $10,000 cash prize and a contract to host the YouTube programme.

The weekly programme will showcase the latest in consumer technologies, local news and events, as well as content aimed at engaging social media users. More details of the YouTube programme will be made available at launch.

“The SingTel Casting Call and the new YouTube programme are fresh new ways to reach out to our customers in an educational and entertaining manner via social media,” said Miguel Bernas, Director of SingTel Digital Consumer Marketing.

“This year, we are looking for a female presenter who not only has a great on-screen presence, but is also savvy enough to guide viewers through the latest technologies. Instead of hiring professional talent, we wanted to open this to social media users in Singapore, and give them a chance to be the next social media star on YouTube.”

Participants will be asked to submit a photo, short video introduction, and bio of themselves. Interested participants can visit SingTel’s Facebook page for casting criteria and submit their entries directly via a Facebook app.

The judging panel will consist of SingTel senior executives, as well as popular local bloggers and celebrities.
